Zion’s Response to the Coronavirus COVID‑19
In response to the Coronavirus, as of Saturday, March 14, at 10am, all in‑person worship services and organized activities are suspended until April 1, 2020.
We will continue to provide any updates as things change.
If you need to speak to a pastor during this time, please call Pastor Matt Schultz at 314-440-2168 or Pastor Chip Froelich at 631-987-5043.
If you have other questions or concerns, please call Zion’s president, Marcy Steiner at 518-810-8441.
Please know that the situation is highly fluid and can change quickly. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and adjust our response accordingly. We will make every effort to communicate any changes as soon as they occur.
Details on other actions we are taking are provided below. We take these actions prayerfully out of an abundance of caution for all of you, our congregation and our community. We are very sensitive to the needs of everyone. Our members older than 65 – particularly those with underlying health conditions – are especially at risk. While we are ever confident of the Lord’s faithfulness to us, we feel obligated to err on the side of caution.
And remember, all of us can help by following these recommendations from the CDC:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Stay home when you are sick.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Cleaning and Sanitizing Church Facilities
We will continue to actively clean our beautiful church. In addition, we are and will continue to make an extra effort to sanitize specific areas of the church such as restrooms, handrails, door handles, switches and other high-use surfaces.
Changes to Worship Services
All in-person worship services are suspended until April 1, 2020.
We will make decisions about Holy Week as we get closer to April.
We are working to potentially live stream worship services and to make worship materials available to those who may want to worship with us from home. Wherever we are, we are still and forever a family – a loving and kind family. More details can be found on our Worship Opportunities page.
Suspension of Church Activities
Fellowship, Sunday School, Formation and Bible Study are suspended until after Easter.
First Communion and Confirmation will be rescheduled. We will do as soon as the future becomes a bit clearer. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s understanding of this change. Cindy Methe, Pastor Chip and Confirmation teachers, Joe Masi and Marcy Steiner will provide formation students and their families at home activities to do while classes are suspended.
All shepherding groups and other activities are suspended until after Easter. This includes the Hardy Perennials, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Men’s Group, Family Night, Serendipity, Thursday Bible Study, Youth Group, etc.
Out of concern for our members, visitation to our home bound members will now be via telephone, text and email. We will always be available in person for a personal or family crisis.
We are working with any outside groups that use our facilities to take the appropriate actions to safeguard everyone’s health.
We will make every effort to keep you informed as the situation evolves through Zion’s website and Facebook pages.
We will also send information out by email. If you would like to receive these emails, please subscribe to Zion’s email list. Click the button below to sign up and manage your email preferences.
You may want to visit the CDC and New York State websites for more general updates and information.
Not all of our members use email or go online. Please share this information with any members of the congregation that you suspect have not seen this.
